A room that receives people
This was a hospitality interior, and it asked for light that would arrive before the guests did. Daylight went early in the hall; after five the whole space belonged to us. The interiors team wanted warmth without glare, and a ceiling worth looking up at. So we started there and worked down.
Golden Lights gave us the language. Nacre hangs low over the long table, hand-finished aluminium holding its 2700K light in a small direct pool that stays on the tablecloth and off the faces. Along the walls, the Moonlit W discs are set at intervals, lined by hand with gold leaf, throwing their light upward so the plaster reads as warm rather than lit. Above the entrance, Moonrise turns its face away and leaves the ceiling glowing instead. On the reception counter a single Moonlit turns one small flame into a pool of gold.
Indirect light for the walls, low direct light for the tables, and gold leaf between the two, softening everything it touches. Nothing in the room is bright. That was the whole intention.
Light, form, and a space that keeps its guests a while longer.
