Cookies and browser storage

A cookie is a short text entry that a website asks your browser to keep on your device. It belongs to the site that wrote it, and your browser returns it only to that site. Browsers offer closely related forms of storage — local storage and session storage among them — which behave the same way from where you sit: something is remembered between pages, or between visits. We call all of them cookies here, because your choices about them are the same.

What we store, and why

Everything this website stores is functional. It exists to make a feature work, not to build a picture of you. Today that means remembering how you answered the cookie notice, so that it does not open again on every page you visit; and keeping you signed in if you create an account to download catalogues or technical files, so that your session survives the move from one page to the next. The software that delivers these pages to your browser may add a few entries of its own, for the same strictly technical reason. None of them is used to identify you anywhere else, and none of them is sold, rented or exchanged.

No advertising, no profiling

We do not carry advertising, and no advertising network is able to place a cookie through this website. There is no retargeting, no audience profiling and no third-party measurement pixel. The social icons in our footer are plain links: nothing reaches those networks until you click one and leave this site, and once you do, the site you land on applies its own privacy terms.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can see and remove everything a website has stored at any time. The controls sit in your browser’s privacy or security settings, where you can delete stored entries site by site or block new ones; on a phone or tablet the same options are under the browser’s own settings menu. If you cannot find them, write to us and we will point you in the right direction.

Blocking storage leaves the site readable — nothing here depends on a cookie to show you a lamp or a project. Two things do change: the cookie notice will greet you on every visit, because we can no longer remember that you dismissed it, and an account will not stay signed in between visits. Blocking storage does not unsubscribe you from anything you asked us for by email; to stop receiving our messages, use the unsubscribe link in the message or write to us at the address below.

Changes to this page

If the way we use browser storage changes, this page is updated first, and what you read here is always the version in force.
