Private Town House
A town house on a narrow plot in Frankfurt am Main, with its rooms stacked floor above floor and a street façade that gives up very little of the evening. The middle of the plan goes dark early. The family wanted those rooms to stay in use without anyone noticing that a lamp had been switched on, so we were asked for light that behaves like daylight: out of a surface, and from no particular point.
Leaf, plaster and a low warm pool
Golden Lights carry most of the work. On the landings and in the hall, Moonlit W lies flat against the plaster as a small gold disc, sending its light back onto the wall until the wall is the brightest thing in the room. Over the dining table a Nacre pendant keeps 2700K in a low, direct pool — copper outside, gold inside — and holds the ceiling at a human height. Up one flight, a Moonrise closes the corridor with hand-laid leaf, turning its face away so the passage is lit from nowhere you can see.
Where the ceilings drop we turned to Stella Moon: Stella-08 discs at the head of the bed, and Stella SR cups semi-recessed into the bathroom ceiling, each hiding its source until only the leaf-lit glow escapes. In the sitting room a single Moonlit on the side table gives one small flame's worth of gold, and for the last hour of the evening that is enough.
Warm metal, low output, nothing looked at directly. The house stays quiet after dark.
