Courtyard Restaurant and Bar, Vienna
In a Vienna courtyard, a restaurant and bar asked us for light that behaves like evening. The rooms run from a stone-paved yard, through a low vaulted bar, into a dining hall with tall windows. Guests move between them as the sky goes down. Our work was to keep that drift legible after dark — warm enough to eat by, quiet enough to stay.
We hung the Nacre pendants over the long tables: hand-finished aluminium in copper and gold, holding their 2700K light in a low, direct pool. The light stops at the edge of the table. Faces stay bright, the room behind them steps back, and every table keeps a small weather of its own.
The bar, and the yard beyond it
Along the vaulted wall we set the Moonlit W discs, lined by hand with gold leaf, so the glow comes back off the plaster instead of arriving at it. Above, the Moonrise discs turn their faces away and let the ceiling carry the light, which makes old brick read as depth rather than texture. On the bar top and the courtyard tables the little Moonlit holders keep a single flame each — the point where electric light agrees to stop.
Three rooms, one temperature of gold. The evening leads; the lamps follow.
