Collections Preview 2022, Berlin Showroom
In the spring of 2022 we opened our Berlin showroom to a preview of the new collections. The room had already asked something of us before we carried anything in: white walls, pale oak underfoot, tall windows facing north. Daylight arrives here even and cool, so whatever we placed had to hold its own weight against it.
One lamp at a time
We began with the woven spheres — aluminium wire worked by hand into an open shell, lit from within by a single small bulb. Wanderer S sits low on a rough iron base. The outdoor one, a metre across, we carried inside for the week; its shadow spread across the floor well beyond the light. Beside them stood Wink, thin copper sticks and glass lenses that lift away, leaving a small pool of direct light wherever you set them down.
Each lamp was placed, moved, and placed again. Nothing in this room is permanent except the walls. Visitors stayed longer than we had planned for, and a few sat down on the floor beside the big sphere to watch the afternoon go.
Three days in Berlin. A room full of questions about light. We are still answering them.
