Lakeside Fish Restaurant
A fish restaurant on the shore of Lake Zurich, where the water is the loudest thing in the room. Timber walls, low ceilings, one long window facing the lake. The brief beside it was almost shy: keep the view, keep the wood, and let the tables glow after dark without competing with either. We began at the water — its flat silver at dusk — and worked inward.
Above the communal tables, clusters of the Sunray Chandelier hang low, hand-woven aluminium spheres from our Wireform family lit from within. The wire keeps part of the light for itself, so the shells scatter rather than glare. The smaller Sunray sits on the two-tops, one woven ball per table, warm aluminium on dark oak. Out on the terrace, where the wind comes straight off the lake, Wanderer XXL (outdoor) stands a metre wide on its rough iron stem and does not move.
Discs, leaf and one small flame
The Ledram discs carry the practical work. Lumen T1 floats a hand-finished disc on a slender rod and sends its 2700K light down to the plate and no further. Along the bar, the flat Lumen W1 washes the panelling in warm direct light and never shows a source. Where the ceiling asked to be softened we chose Moonrise from our Golden Lights family — a disc of hand-laid leaf that turns its face away, so the light returns from above instead. On each table, a Moonlit candleholder in rough iron holds one flame.
Everything here dims, everything runs warm, and nothing wants to be looked at directly. The lake already does that. Light stays at table height, close to the people, and leaves the rest of the room to the dark.
