Sketch 3
A circle that stands
Sketch 3 lifts the drawn circle off the table and lets it stand in the room. Hand-painted copper rings climb a slender black stem, each one carrying a thin band of light, and from across the room the lamp reads as a few strokes of blue held in the air. The emission is direct: light travels out and down over the floor, the arm of a chair, an open page.
Each copper ring is painted by hand in saturated blue, and the LED board sits inside the form so the source never announces itself. Base and stem stay black and quiet; the blue cable runs visibly to a floor dimmer on the plug driver, and the dimmer remembers the level you left it at, returning there every time the lamp is switched on.
Warm at 2700K, generous enough to fill a corner. A drawing, standing up.
