Sketch 1
The circle, drawn once
Sketch 1 begins where drawing begins: with one circle. A hand-painted copper ring carries a thin band of light and stands on a rough iron base, so the whole form reads as a single stroke held in the air. The emission is direct — the ring gives its light outward and down, onto the table, the page, the hand at work.
We paint every ring by hand in saturated blue and leave the iron base deliberately unfinished, so the metal keeps its grain and its small irregularities. The blue cord runs to an in-line dimmer, and the glow can fall from a working light to something nearer candlelight. Nothing is hidden, nothing is added.
One circle. One line of light.
