Flush with the surface

Pebble 102 is recessed into plasterboard, in a ceiling or a wall, and it keeps out of sight until it is lit. What stays visible is a shallow cup of iron, lined by hand with gold leaf, so every ray is warmed on its way out. The light spills sideways from the plane, low and soft, and the wall keeps its calm.

Its frame is white painted aluminium, holding an LED board of 1.7W at 2700K with colour rendering above 90. Modest hardware, unhurried making: each shade is cut, leafed and inspected in our workshop, because gold behaves differently on every curve and no two cups answer the light in quite the same way.

Set it into a corridor, above a shelf, along the edge of a ceiling. Offered in white, gold or silver, with one light or two. A small stone, lit from within.
