Nimbus
Fire at the end of a stem
Nimbus keeps the oldest light we know — a naked flame — and gives it a body to move through. A single candle sits in a brass cup at the top of a slender flexible stem, so the light can be bent low over a page, turned towards a face across the table, or straightened back to a quiet vertical. Nothing here glows evenly. The flame breathes and leans, and the room follows it.
The stem is drawn brass: seventy-five centimetres of it, thin as a reed, finished by hand in our workshop so the metal stays warm rather than mirror-bright. Shape it and it holds. The piece stands around thirty centimetres tall, taller or lower as you arrange it, and every Nimbus leaves us with a candle already in the cup. Light it tonight.
