Light that follows you outside

We made Nautilus F for the hours after dinner, when the table moves out to the terrace and nobody wants to go back in. It is an outdoor floor lamp, yet we asked it to behave like one of our indoor pieces: low, warm, unhurried light that stays close to the ground rather than washing the whole garden.

The sphere is blown by hand and worked while the glass is still soft, so no two are alike and none of them are perfectly round. Light passing through that uneven surface gathers here and thins there, falling on stone or gravel in soft, shifting patches. Aluminium details carry the weight and take the weather; the whole lamp is sealed to IP64 and dims down from a warm 2850K.

Form first, then the rain. Both are looked after.
