Caryatid
A column that carries light
In architecture, the caryatid stands as a figure of support — stone holding stone. We gave the column a lighter burden. Caryatid rises from the floor as a single waxed iron tube, slender and upright, and opens at the crown into gold, silver, or copper. The E27 source inside sends its light upward; it falls back into the room softened, warm as firelight. Indirect, always.
Each tube is finished by hand, its rough iron surface sealed in wax and left slightly irregular — honest to the touch. The metallic crown is leafed and burnished so it catches the glow and refracts it, an idea born from our long reflection on the golden light of sun and flame, and still the heart of our Golden Lights family. A floor dimmer lets the brightness settle to an ember, and remembers where you left it.
Structure becomes light. Light becomes warmth.
